DR KONSTANTINOS KOPSIDAS MD PhD FEBO
Dr. Konstantinos Kopsidas was born in Athens and graduated from the American College of Athens in 1996. He entered the Athens Medical School in the same year and graduated in 2003.
Dr. Kopsidas began his medical specialty in Ophthalmology at the University Clinic of Muenster, Germany, where he earned a PhD in Medicine for his groundbreaking research in the regeneration of retinal ganglion cells. His PhD thesis received the highest distinction and was a candidate for a national award across all scientific fields in Germany that year. He completed his Ophthalmology specialty at the University Eye Clinic of the General Hospital of Athens G. Gennimatas. In 2010, he became a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology in Paris, France.
After completing his specialty, Dr. Kopsidas pursued advanced subspecialization in Retinal Diseases (Manchester Royal Eye Hospital), Ocular Oncology (Moorfields Eye Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals), and Curative, Reconstructive, and Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery (Bristol Eye Hospital, University Hospital of Wales, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals). He collaborated with distinguished scientists on academic and clinical projects.
In 2014, he was awarded the SOE Young Ophthalmologist Award for his presentation, “Evaluation of Choroidal Tumors Using Velocity Studies on Ultrasound.”
Since 2015, Dr. Kopsidas has served as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in various UK university hospitals. He has also collaborated with private healthcare providers, hospitals, and cosmetic clinics in oculoplastic, cataract, and cosmetic eyelid surgery.
Dr. Kopsidas has numerous peer-reviewed publications, has delivered lectures at international, national, and regional conferences, and has received awards for his research.
In 2025, he was nominated as a finalist for the Best Cosmetic Surgical Result in the UK. Additionally, he has made significant contributions to training and mentoring young scientists in ophthalmology, ocular oncology, and oculoplastics through international courses.
